Mitigation

Mitigation is work which is required to reduce the negative impacts on target species or habitats as a consequence of development. Most form of mitigation are a legal requirement as the species are protected by law.

The from of mitigation may vary a great deal depending on the ecological circumstances and type of development. Each site is unique and thus each mitigation program will have to be developed individually.

Mitigation may be in the form of habitat enhancement, conservation management and as a last resort translocations.
